Fancy Pantsy

I've purchased a backpack.

But now I think I'm taking it back.

Why, you ask? Well, because the fancy camping lady at the fancy camping store I went to sold me a fancy travel backpack for a fancy price, only for me to find it online at CANADIAN TIRE for the bargain price of $70! WTF?

Now, don't get me wrong. I have nothing against Canadian Tire (a.k.a. Crappy Tire). But I'm a little dismayed to find my bag, my ultra cool travel bag, at Canadian Tire, cast off as last year's model. I've lost my trust in the so called "fancy camping lady" and her expertise, that's for sure.

The thing is, I don't want to stuff my world into this bag, bulging to the limits with sandals and tampons, only to have them come tumbling out in the middle of the Matica Srpska Gallery (not that I know what that is, but one can imagine...)

What does one do? Do I return it and buy another one? Do I go to MEC and shop around? Do I send the "fancy camping lady" an envelope full of scorpions for her oh-so-helpful advice?

Discuss.

Ooo-er. You must return the backpack and hit your nearest Crappy Tire. Do not worry about where you bought it - worry about how fab it is. Case in point, our magnificent X-treme cooler. Canadian Tire.

And then there was H. Peters on the camping trip fiasco. Everyone else (except of course, me) had headlamps from MEC, that cost $1000 or whatever. H's was $15 and came from the 'Tire. So she had $985.00 to spend on other things like, er, tampons.

Oh, and I should say her headlamp looked no different from the others. It shone "just as brightly."

Hmmmm, I bought a fancy back pack from the fancy back pack lady back in October. So far so good. But I haven't really put it to a good hard test.

I also say return it and go with the CT bag ... i've had a wicked tent from there for over 12 years without a problem and i've put it through it's paces! That way we can look like twins on our trip since my bag looks identical to that one! Also the bag has a lifetime warranty ... I don't care where you are selling it you would only put that on a product you have alot of confidence in!

You've all made excellent points. I'm calling CT as we speak... Val, it does have side zippy action. No MEC, alas, they're too rich for my blood, and most don't have a day pack attached... But perhaps we could take a snoop sometime this week? I've only shopped with them online.

But, who is this person wanting me to buy them underwear? And why are you yelling at me?

Free Samples, is that you?

Take it back, especially if Crappy Tire has the exact same pack. Keep me posted on your backpack hunt. I am in the market for a good one too and have heard the side zipper feature is the way to go. I know that I too will have much needed things stuffed at the bottom. It can’t be avoided.

And where’s the picture of such backpack? I need a visual in order to determine if CT can really sell such a worthy piece of pack.
